The year 2010 marks a high risk for terrorism throughout India. Visiting corporate executive protection (CXP) teams should exercise a heighten degree of caution at all times.
Terrorist attacks (non-suicidal) have occurred throughout India in 2008 and 2009 by remotely detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs). These bombings often occur in busy markets, crowed shopping centers and heavily populated outdoor events. These remotely detonated IEDs attacks have occurred in Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Goa and Hyderabad. 250 people have been killed in these separate IED attacks over the course of 2008-2009.
The terrorist attacks in Mumbai in late November 2008 targeted a railway station, restaurants and two luxury hotels where Western business people and tourists congregate. The weapons Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists from Pakistan used were machine guns and grenades. 170 people were killed in this attack.
Al-Qaeda has used suicide attacks as part of their mode of operations for century’s. Al-Qaeda is the most dominant group throughout the world that uses suicide terrorism. Now comes unconfirmed reports of the Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists of Pakistan planning to blow themselves up in India, exact location is not yet know, but potential targets includes, airports, train stations, hotels, restaurants, markets and crowed shopping centers in Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Goa and Hyderabad.
These individuals who carry out suicide bombing operations are a cowardly bunch. They will reportedly be dressed in civilian business attire when carry out these attacks. They will have explosives strapped around their chest, torso areas as well as concealed in briefcases and other containers. They will be pretending to be businesspeople.
CXP teams throughout India should maintain in a high state of vigilance, keep aware of their surroundings, monitor local open source intelligence reports and have their client’s avoid crowded places. remember, if your CXP team fails to prepare, it prepares to fail. Don’t let this happen. Have an escape plan ready when visiting Mumbai, New Delhi, Jaipur, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Goa and Hyderabad. All the best and keep out of harm’s way.
